Bio.4.1- Understand how Biological Molecules are essential to the survival of living organisms
A few vocabulary words...
- Carbohydrate: sugars and starches, which provide energy for humans and animals, and cellulose which make up many plant structures
- Nucleic Acid: An acid found in all living things consisting of nucleotide chains that convey genetic information
- Proteins: Enzymes that catalyze biochemical reactions
- Lipids: Have several functions in organisms nutrients, energy storage, structural components of cell membranes, and signaling molecules
Cellular Respiration
Cellular Respiration is the set of metabolic reactions and processes that take place in cells of organisms to convert energy or ATP
Aerobic Respiration continues in the presence of oxygen and Anaerobic does not
Aerobic Respiration continues in the presence of oxygen and Anaerobic does not
Photosynthesis
Photosynthesis is a chemical process through which plants, some protists and bacteria, produce glucose and oxygen from carbon dioxide using only light as a source of energy
