Code Orange is by the author Carolina B. Cooney. It's a great book that teaches a 16 year old boy a lesson. His name is Mitty Blake and he is about like me...a procrastinator. Mitty doesn't care too much about school and his main reason for going is to socialize. Especially with this girl he really likes and her name is Olivia. Mitty and Olivia have biology together and have a big project coming up. The assignment was to pick a infectious disease and complete a report on it. The disease he chose is Smallpox which he knows nothing about or how deadly it is. Mitty discovers an envelope with scabs it and decides to begin his research. The scabs Mitty has are more than likely deadly so he does major research because he feels his life is on the line after inhaling the fumes from the scabs. His research does him no good. He finds nothing in textbooks or online other than the fact that Small Pox is very deadly. One day Mitty was walking through the city of New York and he suddenly becomes abducted by terrorists. The terrorists mission was to abduct Mitty and try to give him the Small Pox disease. MItty was using a online chat group because he thought he had Small Pox and was trying to get help but really he was talking to terrorists who wants to give the disease to everyone in New York. So did Mitty save New York before it was too late? The ending of this book is great and I defiantly don't want to spoil it for you future readers! But I highly recommend you to read it sometime! This book ties into biology because the exposure of infectious disease and the steps Mitty has to face with the disease internally and externally! Hope you enjoy!
